The Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR) develops global research programs to connect the world’s best minds - across borders and between disciplines. A core part of their mission is to help share the knowledge created by their research fellows.
CIFAR needed the digital infrastructure to make the work of their research fellows easily discoverable to anyone in the world.
We redesigned the CIFAR web platform with a focus on helping readers find, share, and engage with the content.
CIFAR's knowledge hub, Ideas Exchange, housed years of multimedia content: news, feature articles, polls, videos, case studies, podcasts, and more. We improved the information architecture and search engine optimization to ensure readers can easily find content aligned with their interests.
Search, readability, and engagement were core to the user experience we envisioned.
We created a delightful reading experience across any device to drive user engagement.
Driven by CIFAR's core values of making information open and accessible, it was important to ensure the web platform adhered to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (2.0 AA), a level above their required accessibility standards.
